This Privacy Policy describes how VCNet LLC ("VCNet," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and handles information in connection with our website, vcnet.us, desktop software (including Pixosight), the Pixosight licensing portal, and web-based tools and experiments, including illgati (illgati.com and app.illgati.com).
VCNet is designed around minimal data collection. Our software and browser-based tools are built to run locally whenever practical. We do not sell your data, build behavioral advertising profiles, or share your information with third parties for advertising purposes.
Our Approach to Data
We aim to collect only the information needed to operate our website, provide our tools, respond to users, manage software licenses, process purchases, and meet basic legal or business requirements.
Our web tools are static and designed to run in your browser. User-provided files, inputs, calculations, or tool data are not intentionally sent to VCNet servers unless a specific tool clearly says otherwise.
Information We Collect
Automatically collected information
Accessing our website involves standard network communication. The following information may be collected automatically by our hosting and infrastructure providers:
- Server and security logs: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, timestamps, and similar technical information. This information may be processed by Cloudflare as part of serving pages, protecting the site, and maintaining network security.
- Basic website delivery data: Information necessary to load and operate the website, including requests handled through Cloudflare Pages, Cloudflare Workers, and related infrastructure.
Information you voluntarily provide
- Email inquiries: If you contact us at info@vcnet.us, we collect your email address, message content, and any information you choose to include. We use this information to respond to your inquiry.
- Purchases and license records: If you purchase software or request a license, we may store information such as your name, email address, purchase record, license key, license status, and related support history.
illgati accounts, sync, and sharing (optional)
illgati works entirely locally with no account at all — that's the default. Charts made this way are created and stored only in your own browser, and nothing about them is sent to VCNet. Creating an account is a separate, optional step (currently by invite code, during an ongoing beta), and puts you on the free "Lite" tier: signed in, but still not syncing or sharing your own charts. A Lite account can still be invited to view — and, at the sharer's discretion, edit — a chart that someone on a "Pro" account shares with you. A further Pro upgrade (currently also code-based) is what lets you sync your own charts across devices and share them, live, with people you invite.
Signing in uses Google Sign-In. We receive your email address, display name, and a profile picture URL from your Google account. These are used only to display your account — for example, the avatar shown in the corner of the app — and are not used for advertising or profiling, and are not shared with third parties beyond Google and the infrastructure providers described in this policy. Your account is identified internally by a cryptographic hash of your Google account's identifier, not your email address. Your email, display name, and photo URL are kept in a signed browser cookie to display your account in the app, rather than stored in our database.
If you turn syncing on for a chart, that chart's content is sent to and stored on VCNet infrastructure, encrypted at rest. You may optionally set a passphrase to additionally encrypt an individual chart end-to-end before it ever leaves your browser ("locking" a chart). The resulting encryption key is derived from your passphrase and never leaves your browser, so a locked chart cannot be read from our database alone — by a data breach, a subpoena, or VCNet staff looking at a stored row. If a locked chart's passphrase is lost or forgotten, that chart's copy on your account cannot be recovered by VCNet under any circumstances — only the copies already saved in your own browsers remain readable. A locked chart cannot be shared, since sharing requires the people you invite to also hold the key. Charts you share, or that are shared with you — including on a free Lite account — are visible to the people with access, according to the role (view or edit) each person is granted.
Signing in also creates a session using signed, first-party cookies so you stay logged in between visits. See "Cookies and Tracking" below.
Portal account and registration data
When you create an account at the Pixosight portal, we collect your email address, organization name, and role. During authenticated use, the portal stores and displays your organization profile (name, address, billing contact, support contact, phone, and website), user list and roles within your organization, license details, and device activation history. This data is used to operate the licensing portal, process payments, and respond to support requests.
Payment information
Online payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. (stripe.com). Card payments are handled by Stripe in accordance with PCI DSS requirements and its own privacy policy. VCNet LLC does not store raw payment card details. The Stripe Customer Portal is used for subscription management, payment method updates, and cancellation.
Invoicing and ACH or bank-transfer payments are a manual arrangement only — not available through self-service portal checkout. These may be reconciled through Found (found.com) or VCNet LLC's banking records, not stored in the portal.
We may receive and retain limited purchase-related information, such as your name, email address, transaction status, product purchased, purchase date, and license key, for support, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and license management. For active subscription licenses, billing records are retained for as long as the subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter.
Device activation and heartbeat
The Pixosight desktop app contacts VCNet LLC servers to activate and periodically confirm license validity. Data transmitted includes a machine identifier derived from hardware characteristics, the license key or ID, and a timestamp. This data is used to enforce license terms and is not used for advertising or sold to third parties. For full terms governing Pixosight use, see the Pixosight End User License Agreement.
Desktop diagnostics and error reports
When Pixosight encounters an error on a licensed machine, the desktop app may send a diagnostic report to VCNet LLC. A report can include the error code, exception type and message, stack trace, app version, operating system name and version, the machine name, the machine identifier used for licensing, and limited technical metadata. Reports are filtered before sending to exclude screenshots, image files, measurement data, project files, file names and paths, license keys, and activation tokens. We use these reports to diagnose faults, support your license, and improve the software. Error reporting is automatic on a licensed install and there is currently no setting to turn it off.
Email communications
The Pixosight portal sends transactional emails, including account confirmation, password reset, and license expiration warnings. These are sent to portal account holders and invitation recipients. VCNet LLC does not maintain a marketing email list unless you have explicitly opted in to marketing communications.
Support tickets
Support tickets reach us two ways: through the portal's support ticket system, and through Report a Bug and Request a Feature inside the Pixosight desktop app. Both store what you write — the title, the description, and the ticket type and priority — on VCNet LLC infrastructure, and we use it to respond to your request. The desktop form also sends your app version and operating system name and version if you leave the diagnostics checkbox selected; it does not attach images, measurement data, project files, or file paths. Because the description is free text, avoid including information you would not want stored on our systems. Platform administrators may view ticket content to provide support, and ticket content may be recorded in our internal engineering issue tracker for follow-up. Ticket content is not shared with third parties except as necessary to operate the platform.
Operational logs
The portal collects event and error logs tied to license activations, heartbeat results, and platform errors. These logs are retained for operational diagnostics and troubleshooting. Operational logs do not include Pixosight image or measurement data from your desktop sessions.
What We Do Not Collect
- No behavioral advertising profiles
- No sale of personal information
- No third-party advertising pixels
- No Google Analytics or similar analytics scripts currently in use
- No usage telemetry from Pixosight desktop sessions — measurement, image, and project data stays on your machine. Crash and error diagnostics are the one exception; they carry no measurement, image, or project data. See "Desktop diagnostics and error reports" above.
- No image, measurement, or project data from Pixosight's normal desktop workflows
- No user input or file data from static web tools that are designed to run locally in the browser, except where you explicitly enable an optional account feature — such as illgati's sync — as described above
Web Tools and Experiments
VCNet web-based tools and experiments are static and designed to run entirely in your browser. Computation happens locally on your device. We do not intentionally transmit your tool inputs, files, calculations, or browser-session data to VCNet servers. The one exception is illgati's optional account features — syncing and sharing — described above under "illgati accounts, sync, and sharing," which only apply if you choose to sign in.
Some basic technical requests are still required to load the website, scripts, styles, and related assets. Those requests may be processed by Cloudflare or other infrastructure providers as described in this policy.
Pixosight Desktop Software
Pixosight is a Windows desktop application designed to run locally. Your measurement data, images, calibration profiles, and project files stay on your machine — they are not transmitted to VCNet or to third parties. The app does need to reach VCNet servers to validate its license. If those servers are temporarily unreachable it keeps running against a signed offline lease for a limited period, and stops opening once that lease expires without revalidation.
Updates: Pixosight does not update itself silently. A license validation response may tell the app that an update your license is eligible for is available; installing it is an action you take. If broader automatic updates are made available in the future, they will be optional or clearly disclosed.
License validation: Pixosight may use license validation or activation features to confirm license status and support legitimate use of the software. Any license-related network communication is limited to license management, support, and fraud prevention. Pixosight does not transmit measurement data, images, or project data as part of license validation. Diagnostics and support submissions are separate from license validation and are described under "Desktop diagnostics and error reports" and "Support tickets" above.

Cookies and Tracking
Our website does not currently use cookies for analytics, advertising, or behavioral tracking. Functional or security-related cookies may be used if needed to operate the site or protect it from abuse. If you sign in to illgati, it uses a small number of signed, first-party session cookies to keep you logged in and to complete the sign-in flow; these are functional cookies, not used for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking, and expire automatically.
If we add analytics, newsletter tracking, or other optional features in the future, we will update this policy to describe those practices.
Third-Party Services
We may use third-party services to operate VCNet, including:
- Cloudflare: Website hosting, DNS, Cloudflare Pages, Cloudflare Workers, performance, and security services.
- GitHub: Code hosting, version control, development workflows, and related project management.
- Email forwarding and email providers: To receive and respond to messages sent to info@vcnet.us, and to send transactional portal emails.

- Found: Banking and invoicing services for transactions processed by invoice or ACH. See found.com/privacy for Found's privacy practices.
- Portal infrastructure: The Pixosight licensing portal is hosted on third-party cloud infrastructure. Account data, license records, activation logs, and support tickets are stored on these systems.
- Google: Sign-in authentication for illgati accounts (Google OAuth), and, if you sign in, hosting of your Google account's profile photo. See Google's Privacy Policy for Google's own practices.
These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and service terms. We use them only as needed to operate our website, software, portal, communications, and business functions.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including support, license management, business records, security, legal compliance, and dispute resolution.
- Portal account data: Retained while the account is active plus a reasonable period after deletion or cancellation to support any outstanding obligations or disputes.
- Purchase and license records: Retained as long as necessary to support license ownership, transfers, accounting, and customer support.
- Activation and heartbeat logs: Retained for operational purposes — license enforcement, abuse detection, and troubleshooting.
- Support tickets: Retained for a reasonable business period to support follow-up and internal review.
- Operational and error logs: Retained according to our operational diagnostic needs and the practices of our infrastructure providers. This includes the desktop error reports described above.
- Server and security logs: Retained according to the practices of our infrastructure providers (including Cloudflare) and our operational needs.
- illgati account and chart data: Retained while your account is active. Charts you sync remain on your account until you delete them or delete your account. A chart locked with a passphrase cannot be recovered by VCNet if the passphrase is lost, regardless of how long it is retained.
Email inquiries and support records may be retained for a reasonable business period.
Data Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect the limited information we collect. However, no internet transmission, software system, or storage method is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Our website, software, and tools are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of information we hold about you.
You may contact us at info@vcnet.us to make a privacy-related request. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
Portal account holders may update their profile information directly within the portal. To request deletion of a Pixosight portal account, an illgati account, or the data associated with either, contact us at info@vcnet.us — illgati does not yet have a self-service account-deletion option in the app itself.
