Built for the work, not past it
Software should cover what the job actually needs and then stop. Everything past that is weight somebody has to learn, pay for, and work around.
Capability without an enterprise budget
Serious technical software has drifted toward enormous licences and systems maintained for customers who stopped existing a decade ago. We would rather build something current and keep it within reach.
Your data stays yours
We do not sell it and we do not collect more than the work requires. What has to be stored or sent is encrypted, and anonymized wherever that is possible.
We use what we build
These started as tools we needed ourselves. We also know what it is like on the other side of software that treats the customer as the product.
VCNet LLC builds desktop and browser software for technical work: metrology, thin film and coatings, optics, and the engineering around them.
A specific workflow is harder than it should be, existing tools either don’t cover it or bury it under features nobody asked for, and focused software fixes it. Pixosight measures images and does not try to be a CAD package. illgati is a nested task list with no boards, no sprints, and no status taxonomy.
Software built for a workflow
Pixosight is Windows software for measuring dimensions directly from images. Connect any camera Windows recognizes, capture a still or import one, calibrate against a feature of known size, and read measurements back in real-world units. It is sold by subscription or as a perpetual v1 license, licensing is machine-tied and transferable, and both subscription plans include a 30-day trial. It lives at pixosight.com.
illgati is a browser-based project outliner: nested task cards with dependencies between them. By default it runs entirely in your browser with no account, and nothing about those charts is sent to VCNet. Signing in is optional and adds the ability to view charts other people share with you; a Pro upgrade adds syncing your own charts across devices and sharing them live with people you invite. It lives at illgati.com.
The free tools
The free tools need no account and run entirely in your browser: a ball-cratering thickness calculator, a unit converter built around real datasheets, friction and wear references, a periodic table for deposition work, an interference-colour predictor, a lens simulator. They carry no warranty and no support.
How we handle your data
Your work stays on your machine. Pixosight keeps measurement data, images, calibration profiles, and project files local. None of it is transmitted to VCNet. The app does reach our servers to validate its license, and it sends crash and error diagnostics; both are described in detail in the Privacy Policy. The browser tools send nothing at all.
We do not run analytics scripts, advertising pixels, or behavioural profiling on this site, and we do not sell data. When a product does need to send something, we name it exactly rather than claim a blanket “no cloud” that is not true.
Support and licensing
Base licenses do not include a support contract. We answer reasonable questions about installation, configuration, and calibration. Organizations needing guaranteed response times can arrange a support contract, and multi-seat, volume, and perpetual arrangements are handled directly. Get in touch.
